Cameroon’s double Olympic champion, Françoise Mbango and the Ministry of Secondary Education, MINESEC, through the Cameroon National Federation for School Sports, FENASSCO, have agreed to look for gateways to enable young people express their talents in sports.

During the win-win partnership agreed on recently in Yaoundé, both parties approved to monitor, mentor and guide young students to attain their goals in the world of sport.

Speaking during the reception, the Minister of Secondary Education, Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe Masséna, reiterated that the vision of François Mbango is a light that the young people need to follow. “It is the light that our youth need to follow because the vision is geared towards making them successful in their endeavours.

The vision of Mbango is in line with the vision of FENASSCO which is that of permitting the youth to develop their skills in Triple Jump,” the Minister stated. According to François Mbango, CEO of “African Jump Foundation,” it is a platform to accompany the youth to their highest sport carrier in live.

“Before getting into any adventure, I always try to understand the terrain, the actors and the coaches. African Jump Foundation is a foundation that is out to accompany the talents in sports through the various programmes put in place.

I am out to contribute to what have been done,” Mbango stated Mbango joins Cameroon’s NBA player, Mba’A Mouthe and Indomitable Lions Keeper, Idriss Carlos Kameni, whose foundations in Cameroon have also stepped in to support the development of sports through FENASSCO. Cameroonian-born female track and field athlete, Françoise Mbango Etone was a gold medalist in the triple jump at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. She retained her title with an Olympic record distance of 15.39m at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Even though competing for France since 2010, Mbango is the first athlete representing Cameroon to win medals at the World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. She has been a scholarship holder with the Olympic Solidarity programme since November 2002.
