A project for the electrification of some 48 communities in the North and Far North Regions is back on track after being in a chokehold due to financial difficulties, the Project Manager has said.

He said his company Elsewedy Electric T&D was awarded the contract to work in collaboration with the Electricity Development Corporation (EDC). Elsewedy, according to the contract, was supposed to design, supply, install, and commission medium and low voltage overhead transmission lines for 48 communities in the aforementioned regions.
They completed technical studies but could not continue due to some financial difficulties stemming from hitches in funds transfer. The project manager however emphasized the project funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency and the African Development Bank is back on track as the blockages have been cleared.
“We only came to tell the Minister that things are back on track. We also asked him for additional support that would enable us complete the project faster. He promised he will give us the support we need especially as the project is very important for the social and economic development of all Cameroonians,” Abou Mansour said.
